Uber Technologies, Inc. announced (28.5.2025) its acquisition of Dantaxi, Denmark’s largest taxi company, from private equity firm Triton. The deal will create the most widely-available on-demand mobility platform in Denmark, connecting riders with over 3,500 professional drivers in 75 out of 98 municipalities nationwide.
This acquisition underscores Uber’s long-term commitment to improving urban mobility in Denmark, uniting its industry-leading technology with Dantaxi’s trusted local service. It follows Uber’s successful launch in Copenhagen earlier this year, and marks a significant step forward in making on-demand mobility accessible across the country.
1,900 connected vehicles
Dantaxi was acquired by Triton in December 2018 and since that time has been transformed into a clear market leader in Denmark’s mobility sector, with ca. 1,900 connected vehicles, nationwide coverage and strong ESG credentials.
Over the coming weeks and months, riders across the country will be able to use the Uber app to request safer, more reliable, and increasingly electric rides at the press of a button-helping reduce private car usage and making better connected places to live.
Users will benefit from all of Uber’s most popular features, including upfront fares and driver information, the ability to share ETAs with loved ones, and in-app emergency assistance–whether they’re traveling from downtown Copenhagen or a small town. Importantly, trips will be priced in accordance with Denmark’s regulated taxi fares and shown in the Uber app before a rider requests a trip.
While Dantaxi will continue to operate its popular local taxi services, its extensive network of professional drivers will now be seamlessly integrated onto Uber’s platform. Dantaxi drivers will retain their current agreements and benefit from access to Uber’s dispatch technology, demand generation, and advanced safety features.
